Water Filters
The beverage industry spends millions and millions of dollars every year to promote the quality and benefits of bottled water. The truth is that many of the manufacturers are offering water that is little more than filtered tap water. In fact, as of May of this year there were no government standards in place that required bottled water to be safer, purer, or better than tap water.
Based on this information and the fact that the average cost of a bottle of water is over $1 using a water filter system in your home can improve the quality of your water and save you money.
Water Softners
Water softener reduces the calcium, magnesium, and iron in your water. "Hard Water" refers to water that contains a lot of calcium and magnesium. Hard Water that hasn't been filtered and softened can cause three major problems including rusting and corrosion of your pipes, the
inability for detergents and soap to work correctly and the presense of soap scum or "bathtub ring.". Hard water over time can decrease the quality of your water flow and pressure as well as cause build up in your pipes.
Tank-Type or Storage Water Heaters are the most common type found in residential and commercial buildings in the United States. Water is kept continuously hot and ready for use in a tank found inside or outside the residence. The average lifespan of a traditional storage type water heater is 8-12 years.
Maintenance Tips:
* Drain your water heater twice a year to get rid of any sediment build-up.
* If your water heater has a "vacation mode" setting make sure you use this when you leave for 5 days or more. You will save money on your heating and water bill.
Tankless Water Heaters heat water on demand and do not use the conventional water storage system that most homeowners are used to. This new technology can save you money on energy costs since the system is only using power on demand and are not constantly heating water. Roughly 8% of new sales for water heater systems are now tankless and they seem to be gaining popularity. They are most commonly used in the building of new homes.
Hot Water Recirculation Systems deliver hot water to all fixtures in your house quickly and efficiently. Recirculation systems have been around for a long time and used to rely on gravity to circulate the water in a building. Modern systems now employ a circulation pump to quickly move hot water from your water heater and cold water back to the water heater to be reheated. Hot water recirculation systems can be activated by the push of a button, a thermostat or motion sensor.
Over the long run a circulation system will save you money on your water cost and uses very little electricity. Most new systems will include a 1-5 year warranty from the manufacturer.
Features & Benefits:
* Electricity isn't needed under your sink.
* Only uses the electricity of a 25-watt light bulb
* Save up to 16,000 gallons of water per year.
